Adventures in food & music

Food.

Music.

Two of my favorite things.

Here are some of our recent favorites finds around Melbourne...

D. O. C. delicatessen on Lygon Street in Carlton carries a fantastic selection of meats, cheeses, and imported Italian products.   Stop by for a freshly pressed panini and a side of olives for your authentic Italian fix.  If you're lucky, you may get a taste some free prosecco just for stopping by!
Gewurzhaus Herb and Spice Merchants carry an amazing selection of spices and unique blends to inspire and add excitement to your cooking.  They also sell adorable kitchen supplies and aprons.  Check them out on Lygon Street or Collins Street. Go on and get your spice on!

My pick this week at Queen Street Market? A Turkish gozleme  - paper thin dough filled with spinach and feta cooked on the griddle to perfection.

Last but not least, a new music recommendation... For those who love to foot stomp, the Quarry Mountain Dead Rats will get your tootsies tapping.  This bluegrass/rock band comes from Victoria's own Mornington Peninsula and proudly rock their banjos, washboards, and beards. Happy Listening. http://quarrymountaindeadrats.com/
